IRELAND, Minnie May
Mrs. John Ireland, a resident in this community for 33 years, died at her home in Shell Lake at nine o'clock Thursday morning, Feb. 4, 1937, after a serious illness for ten days. The past few years Mrs. Ireland had been in poor health and was taken critically ill on January 25th. Minnie May Glew was born at Cottage Hill, Iowa, on the 16th day of November, 1865. She was united in marriage December 30th 1890 to John Ireland at Dubuque, Iowa. To this union there were born six children, five of whom are still living: Harry Ireland, Mrs. Stella Boe, Beulah Ireland, Mrs. Clara Thew and Cora Ireland. One son, Lloyd, preceded his mother in death, January 10th 1915. Mr. and Mrs. Ireland moved to their farm west of Shell Lake in 1904 where they resided until Mr. Ireland's death April 4th, 1926, after which Mrs. Ireland and daughter Beulah moved to Shell lake, where they have since resided. Those from out of town who were present at the funeral were Mrs. Geo. Haffenden, Mr. and Mrs. John Thew and Miss Cora Ireland, all of Minneapolis. In Memoriam I hear a long low murmur Like winds in the wintry pine A passing sigh as we say good-bye In this lonely heart of mine. But the murmur low Is the passing snow That heralds the dawn of spring And my aching heart Feels a sudden start, The birth of a song to sing So the hills will 'mind me of snow white hair The sun, of your eyes so fine In tomorrow's spring, we again shall sing; Little Mother of mine. By J. M. Thew, (Son-in-law of Deceased) -Transcribed from the Washburn County Register, Shell Lake, Washburn Co., WI, 04 Feb 1937 ++++++++++ |
