WHAT'S NEW

A list of Washburn Co. Schools

The country school house was an important aspect of early Washburn County communities.  In 1903 there were about 35 schools in sesssion.  It has also been said that there were 84 schools in operation at various times within the county between the years of 1895 and 1960.  Considerable consolidation took place in the late 1950s until today there are only four school districts in the county, those being Spooner, Shell Lake, Northwoods (Minong) and Birchwood.

The following list of schools has been collected and included here to aid you in your Washburn Co. research.  More may be added to as more information is acquired.  Be sure to check out the other school data that can be found linked here.
